Troubleshooting — Error code E:00

Seeing E:00?
Here's the fix.

E:00 means the control box and the robot aren't talking to each other. It's a software issue — updating the firmware to version 1.0.25 (or later) fixes it. The whole thing takes about ten minutes.

Step by step

The fix: update to 1.0.25

E:00 is fixed in firmware version 1.0.25. Follow these steps in order — the only trick is getting the robot to power up out of the water so it can take the update.

  1. Trick the sensor with a wet paper towel. The robot only starts when it senses water, so hold a wet paper towel against the sensor to get it to power up on dry land.
  2. Open the app and check the version. Once the app boots up, check the firmware version and start the update to 1.0.25 (or later).
  3. Restart both after the upgrade. When the system upgrade finishes, restart the robot and the control box.
  4. Give it a few minutes to reconnect. If it won't connect right after the restart, wait and try a few more times — it should connect within a few minutes at most.

Special cases

If the update doesn't go smoothly

Two situations come up now and then. Both have the same tool for the job: the QR-code update.

The app connects, but the robot won't move or respond

Update the app itself first, then try again.

If the update page doesn't appear in the app, use the QR code to update instead — scan it with your phone and it installs the latest version directly. Don't have the QR code? Contact us and we'll send it over.

Already on the latest version, or you suspect the software

Use the QR code to update to the latest version anyway. A fresh install replaces the software completely, which fixes any bugs in the code — even if the version number already looks right.
